HZDS runaways to form common party

TWO PARTIES that were created after two groups of Movement for a Democratic Slovakia (HZDS) MPs left the opposition party are readying to unite in a single party in January 2004.

According to the Slovak daily Pravda, Vojtech Tkáč, who leads the People's Union, and Pavol Gašaprovič, leader of the Movement for Democracy, agreed on November 29 to merge their parties.
