A prosecutor from the Special Prosecutor’s Office has accused Milan Mazurek, MP for the extreme right People’s Party Our Slovakia (ĽSNS) for defamation of race during a live radio broadcast.
Mazurek visited Žilina-based Radio Frontinus on October 10, 2016 to discuss his work in politics. Kotleba’s MP Mazurek stated, for example, that “people from Roma settlements have done nothing for our nation, state budget or culture and are draining our social system” and he indirectly compared the Roma with animals.
In regard to migrants, Mazurek stated that “foreign non-European Muslim migrants, who hate our culture, come here to destroy everything” and repeated several debunked myths about migrants committing sexual crimes in Europe.

A prosecutor of the Special Prosecutor’s Office indicted MP Milan Mazurek at the Specialised Criminal Court on December 4 for the offense of defamation of a nation, race, and faith in a single count in conjunction with incitement, defamation, and threat to persons belonging to a specific race, nation, ethnic group, skin colour, or gender, informed the spokesperson for the Special Prosecutor’s Office as cited by the SITA newswire.
The licensing authority, the Council for Broadcasting and Retransmission, fined Frontinus €15,000 and stated that radio host Martin Palúch did not confront Mazurek’s statements with facts or counter opinions.
