Tibor Mikuš, an independent MP and the president of the Tranava self-governing region has founded a new political party named New Democracy (ND). The party is oriented toward the center of the political spectrum, the SITA newswire reported.
Among the aims of the party are state help to families, care of the young generation, quality education for free, support for trades workers and small companies and lowering the tax burden. The philosophy of ND should follow Mikuš’s personal motto – ‘Respect to traditions and responsibility for the future’, according to SITA.
The party leaders will be people known in the public, with a potential to gain the trust of citizens, such as mayors of towns and villages, regional parliament members, but also artists, sportsmen and scientists, according to the new party.
In the presidential elections the first public act of ND will be to support the incumbent Ivan Gašparovič.
