Social media platforms have already become part of Slovaks' daily life. While half of them were social media users in 2014, 60 percent were active on social media four years later, the EU's statistical office (Eurostat) reported.
In addition, the figure is markedly higher when it comes to young Slovaks, ages 16 to 24, of whom 93 percent used social media last year.

This may be the result of better access to the internet and subsequent digital literacy.
Pensioners on social media
“80 percent of households have internet connection in Slovakia,” said analyst Lenka Buchláková of the Slovenská sporiteľňa bank, as quoted by the TASR newswire.
