The results show that capital punishment is losing support among Slovaks. A similar poll conducted a year ago registered 5% more support.

When capital punishment was outlawed by a decree issued in 1991, two years after the fall of Communism, by Czechoslovak president Václav Havel, support for its reinstatement was at 84%.
