The current holders of the Stanley Cup ice hockey title, the Boston Bruins captained by Slovak Zdeno Chára, visited the White House on Monday, January 23, the SITA newswire reported.
US President Barack Obama praised the team’s play and also noted the height of the Slovak captain, 2.06 metres.
“There is no better image of the Bruins dominance than the tallest player in the history of the NHL,” Obama said, as quoted by SITA, adding that nobody had raised the Stanley Cup higher than Zdeno Chára did on the ice in Vancouver.
“It was an extraordinary day,” said Chára, as quoted by SITA. “It is a great honour to hear praise for the team and also for individuals from the US president.”
