The highest-ranking Slovak officer in the EU, Director General of the Joint Research Centre Vladimír Šucha, has decided to leave Brussels after 13 years and go into Slovak politics, as reported by the Sme daily.
He will join Progressive Slovakia (PS), the non-parliamentary party that currently appears as the strongest in polls.
Šucha will advise PS-Spolu on education.

“We must see education as one ecosystem,” Šucha said, as quoted by the TASR newswire. Otherwise, the country may face an employment crisis, he claimed.
The interconnection of research and business will, therefore, be of importance in the upcoming years, Šucha added.
The PS-Spolu manifesto is to be presented to the public in the coming days, TASR wrote.
Separately, Martin Burgr, head of President Zuzana Čaputová's campaign, recently announced that he was leaving the president's office to head the PS-Spolu campaign ahead of the 2020 general election.
