Slovakia’s ice hockey team was shut out of the quarter-finals at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games after it was defeated by the team from the United States, 1:5.
The only Slovak goal was scored by Peter Čerešňák. Ryan Donato scored twice for the US, while James Wisniewski, Mark Arcobello and Garrett Roe scored one goal each.
The US team will now face the Czech Republic in the fight for the semi-finals.
Slovaks kicked off the Olympics by defeating the tournament’s favourite, the Olympic Athlete from Russia, 3:2. However, they later failed to defeat their rivals from the US (losing the match 1:2), and also Slovenia (2:3 on shootouts).
They thus placed last in the B group.
