FOR THE very first time, the Slovak capital will host a festival of Brazilian films. Called Brazil Visual, it takes place during the last week of February at the KC Dunaj in downtown Bratislava. The event’s organisers seek to present a variety of acclaimed films, highlighting their diversity as well as the Portuguese language.
“When we elaborated the section of Brazilian cinematography for the website of the Portuguese Institute we realised what good-quality movies are made in this country, and how rarely they are screened in Slovakia, which is a pity. Thus we decided to organise this festival and present to Slovak audiences at least a selection of what is shot in this huge and beautiful country,” said festival head Silvia Severíniová, of the Portuguese Institute.
After Bratislava, the festival will travel to Spišská Nová Ves and Košice.
