Parliament passes tax licences

RULES for companies operating in Slovakia will change again as parliament passed the amendment to the law on income tax, which includes the reduction of corporate taxes from 23 to 22 percent and the introduction of so-called tax licences. The opposition has criticised the changes, calling them unconstitutional, the SITA newswire reported on December 3.

Sadiki phone call with Harabin confirmed

SUPREME Court President Štefan Harabin did have a phone conversation with alleged drug lord Baki Sadiki on August 5, 1994, but they discussed only “private matters”, the General Prosecutor’s Office confirmed before the Bratislava Regional Court. This stems from the valid court verdict awarding Harabin €150,000 in compensation, the Sme daily reported in its December 3 issue.

FinMin expects more income from taxes

THE GOVERNMENT expects to collect millions of euros more in taxes and levies than it had previously anticipated. The state treasury raised its estimated revenue in taxes and levies compared to September's forecast for 2013 by €154 million or 0.2 percent of GDP. It expects similarly better tax revenue for the years 2014-2016, with its estimated revenue in taxes and levies increasing by €375 million in 2014, €361 million in 2015 and €365 million in 2016.

Deficit lower than expected

Trnka no longer prosecutor

Slovakia will need immigrants, prognosis shows
