ON AVERAGE, 30,428 motor vehicles drove toll roads daily in Slovakia in February. Compared with January, this represented a 9.7-percent increase.

When comparing traffic on toll roads in February 2014 to February 2013, when the length of toll roads changed, there was a 17.7-percent increase in the number of vehicles. In total, motor vehicles drove 112.62 million kilometres on toll roads in February, the TASR newswire wrote on April 1, citing the electronic toll administrator SkyToll’s latest data. In Slovakia, trucks and buses are required to pay tolls electronically on highways, dual carriage-ways and first-class roads. Passenger cars pay tolls via stickers.

“Vehicles with the toll obligation drove 41.53 million kilometres on highways [in February],” Anton Bódis, a spokesperson for SkyToll, told the SITA newswire, adding that they drove 10.52 million kilometres on tolled dual carriage-ways and 54.02 million kilometres on tolled first-class roads.
