The launch of the ferry with a capacity of 150 tons, or four to six trucks, will help both sides significantly. Transportation possibilities of the Esztergom industrial park are currently very limited while on the Slovak side the industry is stagnating, but transportation possibilities are considerably better.

Construction of the ferry is partly financed from EU funds while its price tag is roughly €5 million. Of this, the contribution of the EU is €4 million. The partner in the project for Slovakia is the Kolping Slovensko company, while the Hungarian side is represented by the National Infrastructure Developing Private Company.

For the time being, the two towns are connected by the Maria Theresa Bridge, but only vehicles up to 3.5 tons can use it.
