More focus on countries with traditional political and economic ties to Slovakia, new representative offices, and a significant increase in the number of economic diplomats were among a number of major changes presented by Foreign Affairs Minister Juraj Blanár (Smer) at the end of August.
New diplomatic offices in Tanzania, Malaysia, Philippines and Algeria, plus a liaison office in Ethiopia, are to be opened, while existing offices in Denmark, Norway, Poland (Krakow), Russia (St. Petersburg) and Kosovo were closed in December 2024.
The ministry also plans to organise economic missions abroad with Slovak entrepreneurs, focusing on North Africa and the Indo-Pacific regions.
