Bratislava is set to welcome a new addition to its growing fast-food landscape. Croatian chain Koykan, known for its globally inspired menu and commitment to healthier ingredients, is making its debut in Slovakia’s capital with two branches scheduled to open in the Eurovea and Aupark shopping centres, according to the news website Aktuality.
Founded in Zagreb in 2012 by a group of friends with a taste for international cuisine, Koykan has steadily expanded by offering an alternative to traditional fast food. The brand champions fresh produce, minimal preservatives and culturally diverse flavours – from falafel and burritos to gyros, wraps and modernised burgers.
Ahead of its Bratislava launch, the company has begun hiring staff, offering a starting salary of €1,250 gross per month. Koykan is recruiting for combined kitchen and bar roles, where employees will rotate between food preparation and customer service. Applicants must speak Slovak, English or Croatian at a B2 level, and all new hires will undergo training to align with the brand’s standards.
The new outlets will feature self-service digital kiosks and interiors designed with natural materials and light colours, echoing Koykan’s modern, open-concept aesthetic already in use in other countries.
Bratislava marks the chain’s first foray into the Slovak market, but Koykan’s ambitions reach further: it aims to open up to 15 restaurants across central Europe by the end of 2026, including in Vienna, Prague, Munich, Ljubljana and Budapest.
While other global players such as Wendy’s and Five Guys have signalled interest in the region, Koykan is the first to make a concrete move.
