Companies doing business in Slovakia again had the opportunity to apply for Via Bona Slovakia and present their exceptional project or exemplary approach to business in one of seven categories. As many as 51 companies took the opportunity within the jubilee 25th edition of the contest. Inclusive Employment and the Positive Change in the Community categories dominated the number of nominations with 10 nominations each. New among the categories in the current edition is the Responsible Campaign category, for which companies submitted eight external or internal campaigns that raise pressing issues that resonate in society.

Independent committees, composed of experts from companies, public institutions, non-profit organisations and the media, selected 21 of the nominations for the final round.

The Pontis Foundation will hand down the awards to the winners during a gala evening in Design Factory in Jarovce, part of Bratislava, on June 17.

Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions Slovakia

Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions Slovakia (DTITSO) provides comprehensive solutions in the field of information and communication technologies and business process outsourcing. With more than 4,000 employees in Slovakia, DTITSO is one of the leaders in IT services. The company focuses on innovation, quality and transparency in all its processes, while continuously investing in the development of new technologies and service improvements. In the environmental area, the priority is to minimise the carbon footprint, promote recycling and the use of renewable energy sources. Kaufland is one of the largest retail chains in Slovakia, employing more than 8,200 people. The company is actively committed to sustainability, with an emphasis on saving energy and natural resources and reducing waste. It also has a strong focus on promoting health and the prevention of obesity and overweightness, especially among children, through its “Kaufland for Healthy Eating” programme, which motivates children to consume more fruit and vegetables. In 2024, it launched an internal campaign against prejudice in the workplace called “Let’s Not Label”. Through long-term partnerships, Kaufland supports various community and cultural initiatives. It is regularly ranked among the most trusted brands in Slovakia.

Veolia Energia Slovensko is a leader in the field of heat and energy supply in Slovakia, while also providing comprehensive services in the field of energy efficiency in buildings and water management. The company, which has been on the market for more than 30 years, is responsible for supplying heat to more than 90,000 households in 29 cities. In addition to heat generation and distribution, Veolia is also committed to renewable energy and recycling, with the aim of minimising its carbon footprint and promoting ecological transformation.  The company invests in innovative energy efficiency solutions, contributing to the reduction of energy consumption and improving the quality of life of its citizens. Through the Veolia Slovakia Foundation, the company supports local communities and ensures the long-term development of volunteerism among its male and female employees.

Responsible Small/Medium-sized Company

DeutschMann Internationale Spedition

The freight forwarding company DeutschMann Internationale Spedition, based in Trebišov, eastern Slovakia, provides comprehensive solutions in the field of worldwide freight forwarding. It specialises in outsourcing shipping services, cost optimisation and increasing flexibility for its global clients. It emphasises fairness, honesty, stability, transparency and adherence to ethical standards. It considers its most important value to be helping – clients, employees and communities. Up to 79 percent of staff participate in volunteer activities. In 2024, the company organised the fifth DeutschMann Senior event for 150 seniors from Trebišov and the surrounding area, regularly organises concerts for the public and promotes time spent “offline”. It also takes care of the education and development of its male and female employees through its own academy focused on both hard and soft skills.

DYNAMIK

DYNAMIK is a family-owned construction company that has been operating on the Slovak market since 1990. It specialises in the comprehensive preparation of construction projects, development, implementation and general delivery of construction works. The core business is complemented by the operation of construction shops, with a shop, a bathroom studio and its own concrete plant. The company is guided by the values of a transparent, sustainable and responsible business, with an emphasis on quality work, flexibility and individually tailored solutions for each client. It invests in green technologies such as renewable energy and energy efficiency in the projects it undertakes in order to minimise its carbon footprint. It identifies and improves the environmental aspects of concrete production and use based on concrete life cycle analysis. In 2024, on a voluntary basis, it produced and published the 2023 Sustainability Report.

MannaFactory

MannaFactory is a registered social enterprise specialising in catering, catering services and the running of cafés. The company focuses on sustainability and eco-friendly solutions in the catering industry. The main objective is to create stable employment opportunities for disabled employees in a respectful environment. The company operates corporate cafeterias at IBM and Swiss Re, where it employs people with disabilities, who also participate in the preparation of meals in their kitchen in Bratislava. The company also strongly supports local producers and applies a zero-waste model, thus contributing to environmental protection. In collaboration with Grow, a local coffee roastery, they have created a sustainable zero-waste coffee cycle that ends by pressing the leftover grounds into tablets with meadow flower seeds. As part of its community outreach, the company is committed to helping Ukrainian families, or families in deep social need.
