A total of 298 employers out of 349 applicants have been approved by certification commissions for engaging in dual education projects as of the next school year. As a result, students attending secondary vocational schools will be able to choose from 84 study programmes involving practical training in 494 facilities operated by employers, said Jaroslav Holeček, head of the newly-established Council of Employers for Dual Education Projects.

“I’m happy to see employers offering 2,763 places for the practical training of students taking part in the dual-education system,” said Education, Science, Research and Sport Minister Juraj Draxler as cited by TASR. “It is up to us to convince the students and their parents that dual education makes sense and may be of immense help in launching the career of a young person.”

Currently, 444 secondary vocational school students and 87 employers are involved in the programmes.

Dual education is designed to ensure a smooth transfer of students from vocational schools to the labour market without the need to complete additional training after school.
