THE FOURTEENTH year of the New Trends in Personnel Management Conference took place on April 1 and 2 in Bratislava.
This year, the prestigious HR OSCAR and HR OSCAR SPECIAL awards went to companies in east Slovakia, the Trenkwalder company told The Slovak Spectator.
Trenkwalder, a human resources and personnel-consulting company, organises the contest with the help of the Club of HR Managers.
Out of three finalists, the HR OSCAR award went to "Programme for Families", a project by regional power distribution company Východoslovenská Energetika that takes care of employees on parental leave.
The other finalists were a project by the Sauer-Danfoss machinery firm, which is teaching liquid mechanisms at the Secondary Vocational School in Považská Bystrica, and "Strangers Underground" by the Hornonitrianske Bane Prievidza mining company, which currently employs about 100 Romanian miners.
The HR OSCAR SPECIAL award from the Minister of Labour, Social Affairs and Family for most important contribution to employment went to Košice-based T-System Slovakia, which lowered unemployment in the Košice Region by increasing its staff by 404 in 2007.
The other two projects that made it to the final round of the HR Oscar Special were a GGP Slovakia initiative in Poprad Matejovce and a project by Johnson Controls in Lučenec.
