AN ELECTRONIC marketplace, which is part of the Electronic Contracting System (ECS), will go into full service from February 1 of this year, Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák told press on January 22, the SITA newswire reported.
All institutions that are obliged to procure through the electronic marketplace will have one month to register.
According to the data presented by the minister, so far during the trial operation of the system 210 deals took place in the volume of 1.5 million euros while €302,000 was saved and on average there were nine bids per one public procurement on average. Currently 4,300 supplier firms and 2,270 procurers have been registered in the system.
Prime Minister Robert Fico says that the so-called “national eBay” is a precious tool in the fight against speculators and people who tend to resort to corruption.
“We have prepared a very effective tool of trading for all state institutions and self-governments and also for municipalities that will procure common goods and services via this system,” said Fico, as quoted by SITA.
He added that examples provided to him by the Interior Minister confirm that it is not only a transparent but also efficient way of purchasing.
The Prime Minister also welcomed the Interior Ministry’s idea to introduce compulsory procuring on the electronic marketplace also for above-limit orders.
