Fines for drivers who have not bought the electronic highway stickers will be halved from €300 to €150 as of October 1. This stems from the proposal the government adopted at its May 25 session, the TASR newswire reported.

The Transport Ministry also proposes to change the periodicity of imposing fines. This means that instead of fining drivers every day they will receive the fine every month if they fail to buy an e-sticker.

Moreover, drivers who have paid one or more fines during the previous 12 months and violate the rules again, but buy the e-sticker in the meantime, will not receive another fine.

Also, the drivers who will be fined until the changes come into force will have to pay only one fine, TASR reported.
