The Italian supermarket Cortelazzi will open its first store in Slovakia.
Cortelazzi, a chain of stores owned by the Cortelazzi family from northern Italy, will offer about 4,500 Italian products in its 1,800-square-metre store in Bratislava’s Bory neighbourhood, the Hospodárske Noviny daily writes. A cafe and a restaurant will also be part of the store.
The store should open on November 6, according to the Relife website. The HN daily mentions the end of October.
The company should employ up to 30 workers.
Small specialised grocery stores
Cortelazzi will be the first large store that will specialise in selling food products from a foreign country in Slovakia.
In Bratislava, there are several small grocery stores selling food products from abroad: Marco Italiano in the Central shopping mall, the Indian grocery store Pulwama near the Trnavské Mýto junction, the French store Chez Balzac near the Foreign Ministry, and the Asian store Foodland on Stará Vajnorská Street. Similar stores can be found in the Fresh Market, a farmers’ marketplace, on Rožňavská Street.
Cortelazzi plans to open stores in Budapest and Vienna next year. It has been operating in Prague, Czech Republic, since 1997.
