Lighting manufacturer Osram will create at least 200 job vacancies in Nitra Region over the next three years. Currently some 1,200 people are working for the company. The new shared services centre for the EMEA Region has the ambition to become the third biggest in Slovakia, the Hospodárske Noviny daily reported.
“Our decision is based on the accessibility of the labour force, Róbert Verbich of Osram told Hospodárske Noviny. “There are secondary schools and also universities in the regional capital and people know languages.”
The centre should facilitate activities including accounting, controlling, purchasing and customer service. The investment is worth €400,000. The company will receive investment aid at 25 percent of the total investment costs, Hospodárske Noviny wrote.
Moreover, new Korean investor Samhwa Tech plans to invest €8.3 million in building a plant near Martin that will open 180-200 jobs. The company supplies components to the automotive industry.
The companies are, however, not the only ones planning to create new jobs. Also the Financial Policy Institute (IFP), which runs under the Finance Ministry, anticipates that employment should rise by 0.5 percent in the second quarter of the year, up from the previously predicted 0.1 percent, Hospodárske Noviny wrote.
