From Košice to the world: Brothers find success exporting sirens abroad

The Tomark company was nominated for the FéliX Business Award in the Exceptional Family Business category in 2024.


The Telegrafia company, based in the eastern Slovak city of Košice, belongs among the top in the development of alert systems. It specialises in voice sirens, used in municipalities as well as industrial companies, where they warn of approaching critical situations and threats to employees’ health.

FéliX Business Award

An award granted to businesses that is organised by Index economic magazine and Slovenská Sporiteľňa bank, in cooperation with partners. It is awarded to inspirational and socially responsible companies and municipalities for activities that contribute to the country’s prosperity and modernness.

Rather than the Slovak market, the company founded by brothers Peter and Štefan Marčák focuses on doing business abroad. Its sirens are used in 96 countries across the globe, including French Polynesia, the USA, European countries and India.

“We supply big alert systems with dozens to hundreds of sirens, but we also have small projects where their number is in single digits,” Peter Marčák explained. He works as a CEO in the family business, while his brother Štefan is responsible for its business activities.

Procurement for Gabčíkovo as game changer

Peter Marčák worked for the state-run Tesla Pardubice towards the end of the communist era. The company was developing radiolocation technology, radars and TV technology, and had quite a name in then Czechoslovakia.
