LOGISTICS company Gefco Slovakia opened a new 9,000 square-metre distribution facility in Senec Logistics Centre near Bratislava in late June. The company invested €250,000 in outfitting the facility, the SITA newswire reported.
“The new warehouse in the logistics park in Senec was launched based on a requirement to extend storage capacities raised by one of the most important clients of Gefco from the food industry,” said Michal Bodocký, the company’s manager for logistics, as quoted by SITA.
Gefco Slovakia is continuing to expand in Slovakia. Apart from Senec, Gefco operates logistics premises near Trnava (over 32,000 square metres) and in the eastern-Slovak village of Kechnec (5,800 square metres), in which it secures logistics services for its clients from the automotive industry. Gefco Slovakia is part of the Gefco logistics group, which operates in 150 countries. It ended 2011 with a turnover of €77.5 million, up 15.6 percent compared to 2010. Gefco's owner, French carmaker PSA Peugeot Citroën is currently holding discussions with a Russian railway company about selling a 75-percent share in the firm for €800 million as a way to reduce its debt and cover growing losses. Gefco is the most profitable division of the automaker.
