German rail logistics group pulls plug on Slovak freight arm Retrack

Collapse leaves more than 100 employees unpaid as market turbulence hits central Europe.

Slovakia’s rail freight market has been shaken by the collapse of Retrack Slovakia, one of its largest private operators, despite the company reporting revenues of nearly €33m last year.

More than 100 employees have not received their June salaries, with July payments also in doubt, after all company accounts were frozen, reports business magazine Index. Staff remain technically employed, but insiders say workers are considering legal action as they wait for bankruptcy proceedings to begin.
