AVERAGE heating costs for households will not increase next year, while some heat producers might even decrease their prices, the Economy Ministry announced on October 7.
“Representatives of the Slovak Association of Heat Producers confirmed this to Economy Minister Tomáš Malatinský during a discussion held within a conference dedicated to questions of effectiveness in heat production,” Stanislav Jurikovič, ministry spokesperson said, as cited by the TASR newswire.
Malatinský recalled the long tradition of Slovak heat production, highlighting that existing systems of central heat supplies represent in the Slovak context a specific capital that it is necessary to develop with new, innovative technologies.
According to Miroslav Obšívaný from the association, the central system of heat supply is the most ecological and effective method of heating.
“We realise that heat costs represent a large item for households,” Obšívaný stressed. “Thus we are pleased that we managed also during this bad economic period to stabilise the costs.”
