The car-maker Jaguar Land Rover has not yet specified when it plans to start car production in its new factory in Nitra. Unofficial information from insiders indicates that production will begin on September 3, i.e. within two weeks, and that it will be a gradual start. For now, the plant is operating in trial production mode.

Information about the start of production in September was also given to city council members in Nitra and also by factory managers to journalists during their tour of the factory at the end of May. The car-maker responded to questions from the SITA newswire by saying that “the plant will start production before the end of 2018”.

The first vehicle to be produced in Nitra will be the Land Rover Discovery. The initial production capacity will be 150,000 vehicles per year.

In the second phase, Jaguar should be making 300,000 cars per year. The car-maker has not specified when the launch of the second phase will be.
