The investment amounts to €6 million and could provide jobs to 150 people, 30 in office positions.

“This will be our biggest manufacturing plant in Europe, with the prospect of expanding the production space by an additional 2,500 square metres,” said Antonio Canfora, the company’s statutory representative, as quoted by the TASR newswire.

The reason behind this decision and the move of manufacturing facilities from the town of Brezová pod Bradlom involved problems with available space. The land, in an industrial part of the district town of Senica on which the plant will be constructed, has been owned by Maccaferri since 2007 but the global crisis delayed the company’s construction plans.

Completion of the new production facility is planned for the end of 2015.

Maccaferri is a global company in designing and creating complex technology solutions in construction, geotechnical industries, and environmental projects. It is more than 130 years old, and it makes products from steel hexagonal caging, geo-synthetic materials and anchoring technology. It focuses on complex technology solutions of environmental constructions, securing rock walls, fortifying asphalt layers, anti-erosion protection and acoustic barriers.
