Samsung, others get ethics award

SAMSUNG Electronics Slovakia in Galanta and Železiarne Podbrezová in Podbrezová won the Grand Prix of the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SOPK) for following ethical principles when doing business. Their representatives accepted the prizes during a general assembly of the SOPK in Bratislava on April 15, the TASR newswire reported.

A total of 14 companies joined the 12th edition of the competition.

When accepting the prize, Kyung Jin Kim, president of Samsung Electronics Slovakia (which produces LCD TV sets), stressed that the company has been doing business in a highly competitive global environment. He also expressed the hope that Samsung Electronics Slovakia would be a good example in social responsibility and business ethics for other companies.

Vladimír Soták, the general director of ironworks Železiarne Podbrezová, said that the company during its 174-year long history has always done business in line with ethical principles.
