Slovak Donors’ Forum helps many

MEMBERS of the Slovak Donors’ Forum (SDF) provided 1,967 grants amounting to more than €7.8 million to support social welfare projects in 2009. The funds came from employees of the member institutions, additional private donors and from public resources. Compared with 2008, the amount distributed to organisations and people in need increased by almost €900,000, as did the number of projects supported, Lenka Iľanovská from SDF told the SITA newswire.

SDF brings together foundations, civic associations and social welfare funds which distribute financial resources to others in need. Member organisations of SDF stress fulfilment of their missions and roles and on observing the duties stipulated by law. They closely monitor the effectiveness of donated resources and transparency in their use. In 2006, the SDF founded a club of company donors which brings together firms with a long history of responsible and transparent philanthropic programs.

Members of SDF include Karpatská Nadácia (the Carpathian Foundation), Nadácia na Podporu Očianskych Ativít (the Foundation for the Support of Civic Activities), the Open Society Foundation, the Pontis Foundation, Nadácia pre Deti Slovenska (the Foundation for the Children of Slovakia), Regionálne Evironmentálne Centrum Slovensko (the Regional Environmental Centre Slovakia), Slovenská Humanitná Rada (the Slovak Humanitarian Council), Nadácia-Centrum Súčasného Umenia (the Foundation-Centre of Contemporary Art), Nadácia Intenda (Intenda Foundation), Slovensko-český Ženský Fond (the Slovak-Czech Women’s Fund), Socia-Nadácia na Podporu Sociálnych Zmien (the Social-Foundation for the Support of Social Changes), Nadácia Orange (the Orange Foundation), Asociácia Komunitných Nadácií (the Association of Community Foundations), Stredoeurópska Nadácia (the Central-European Foundation) and the Foundation Habitat for Humanity International.
