“In the Czech Republic thousands of families with children also have financial problems due to cancer,” Kiska stated, as quoted by SITA. “I’m very glad that there is somebody who wants to help them. And I’m extremely proud that thanks to our good angels we have showed people in other countries that we Slovaks can get together and create a beautiful project to help.”

Sýkora and Černý have donated Kč25 million from the sale of their company, Papirius, to initially fund the Czech version of Dobrý Anjel.

“We know that a serious disease in the family, apart from huge personal and physical pain, often means leaving a job and thus huge financial problems,” Sýkora said. “We believe that via this programme we will help hundreds to thousands of families.”

Slovakia’s Dobrý Anjel programme is financed from private funds and donors, called good angels, who can contribute any amount they wish. All donated money is distributed to families in need and a donor can see who the contribution has helped.
