Americans from U.S. Steel are definitely leaving the company's Košice steel plant and are looking for a buyer, the Sme daily website reported on May 5.
The head of U.S. Steel, Mario Longhi, is to visit the Košice steel plant which is surprising because he was there in mid-March 2016. It is not known what he is going to say to employees but he may announce the name of the buyer, Korzár regional daily wrote referring to two sources from the plant.
“The visit of Mr Longhi is a normal business visit and we consider it to be an internal issue for the company,” U.S. Steel Košice spokesperson Ján Bača told the Sme.
The day before Sme published the story Vice Prime Minister for Investments Peter Pellegrini stated that U.S. Steel was not discussing the possible sale of its Košice steel plant with any potential buyers.

“The top U.S. Steel representatives have confirmed that there’s no offer on the table at the moment or any official talks about the possible sale of U.S. Steel Košice to another buyer,” said Pellegrini after talks with representatives of the company, as cited by the TASR newswire.
