Prime Minister Robert Fico promised RKN just before the March parliamentary elections an investment incentive of €20 million. RKN Global is to produce duty stamps and blank copies of personal documents in Slovakia, the Sme daily wrote.
According to documents acquired by the daily that look like files from the Interpol database, a Swiss court sentenced Sidorenko to 18 months in prison in 2000 for forging documents and breach of trust. The sentence was eventually suspended as Sidorenko already served 446 days in custody.
Sidorenko and his cousin were also charged in the USA two years ago with fraud and kickback provision when procuring contracts for the consortium. The court, however, rejected the case since it did not concern the USA and it did not feel authorised to solve foreign cases.
The project of a plant in Slovakia is already underway and already 20 technical workers have been deployed on site, according to CEO of the company Alan Buriš. “As far as preparatory works are concerned, we are close to submitting the project for building proceeding,” he told Sme. In Slovakia, the father of Alan Buriš, the legal representative of the RKN Global company, Jozef Buriš allegedly helped mediate the plan.
The Ukrainian investment shall create more than 1,200 jobs in Banská Bystrica and, announced shortly before the March 2016 general election, it received state aid.
RKN Global, however, still has not published an investment plan for environmental impact assessment.
