Industries in Slovakia and Germany both focus on automotive, machine engineering and plastic engineering. This is also reflected in German investments in Slovakia. While Volkswagen Slovakia is probably the most well-known German company operating in Slovakia, there are dozens of others active in an extensive ranking of sectors.

Each story is unique. Some German investors arrived in Slovakia during the privatisation wave after the fall of the communist regime, while others utilised the potential of Slovak experts and launched brand new companies, sailing on the wave of the latest technologies.
