The traditional summer shutdown at the Trnava-based carmaker PSA Groupe Slovakia will last two weeks, with Friday, July 22 being the last day of production. Production will restart August 8, carmaker’s spokesperson Peter Švec informed the TASR newswire.
The Slovak arm of the German carmaker Volkswagen Slovakia stopped production lines on July 11, in a planned three-week temporary shutdown.

The third carmaker in Slovakia, Kia Motors Slovakia near Žilina, closed its plant for the summer holiday earlier this month, from July 4 until 15 July.
New Citroën C3
For the second half of 2016, PSA Groupe Slovakia will focus on producing the new Citroën C3 model, which was presented to the media in Slovakia and in France on June 29 as well as the recruitment for the recently introduced fourth working shift.
“The plant, however, will not be empty during these two weeks,” said Švec. “Several teams will be working on long-term planned maintenance work of production lines. The maintenance will be crucial for the smooth running of the carmaker in the second half of 2016.”
The Trnava-based carmaker manufactured more than 303,000 cars in 2015, an increase of 19 percent.
Three carmakers produce cars in Slovakia. Together they manufactured a record 1,038,503 vehicles in 2015, an increase of almost 70,000 vehicles compared to the previous year.
