Currently, the latest welding technologies and some 500 robots are being installed. The body shop is set to produce chassis and frames for the Porsche Cayenne, the TASR newswire reported.
Around 500 people took part in constructing the 35,700-square metre site, while another 800 people will be engaged in installing the equipment and robots.
The foundation stone for the new body shop was laid in April 2015. As many as 200 highly skilled staff members will be allocated to the body shop, VW SK spokesperson Vladimír Machalík said, as reported by TASR.
VW Slovakia has produced more than four million vehicles since opening its plant in Bratislava in 1991. Employing 9,900 people, it is one of the largest employers in the country.
