Nuclear storage by 2030

THE COSTS of a deep underground nuclear waste deposit site are estimated at Sk71.13 billion (€1.75 billion), according to a document on the nuclear fuel cycle back-end policy to be discussed by the government, the news wire SITA wrote.

The deep nuclear storage site should be built in 2030 at the latest and should start operations in 2037, the Economy Ministry said.

The document warns that, in its current form, the responsible government fund could cover only 39 percent of the costs of the nuclear policy.
