Eduard Kukan was born in 1939 in Trnovec nad Váhom. He graduated from Comenius University’s Faculty of Law and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. He started his diplomatic career in 1964 and beginning in 1990 he served as the Czechoslovak Ambassador at the United Nations in New York. From 1998 to 2006 he was the Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister. Presently he is a deputy of SDKU in the Slovak parliament.
Political affiliation: Slovak Democratic and Christian Union – SDKÚ (member of the European People’s Party and European Democrats in the EP)
