Slovakia plans to open a new general consulate in the United Kingdom, in the city of Manchester before May 31, 2012, the SITA newswire wrote.

Slovakia plans to open a new general consulate in the United Kingdom, in the city of Manchester before May 31, 2012, the SITA newswire wrote.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry told SITA that the Slovak embassy in the UK is one of the busiest Slovak embassies, mostly providing services to Slovak citizens temporarily or permanently residing in the UK.

Together with Ireland and Sweden, the United Kingdom was one of three countries which immediately opened its labour markets to citizens of new member states when Slovakia entered the European Union in May 2004, resulting in a mass influx of Slovak workers to the country.
