Land behind the Map. Amazing Art History with Professor Hamster
The Kornel and Naďa Földvári Library
Artist´s (Heavy) Luggage
Laco Teren. Nothing Can Stop Us!

Democratia - At a time when the need to rethink Democracy is felt acutely, when current events nationally and globally are raising questions about the stakes of power, the work of these two authors, each with their own means of expression, tries to grapple with societal events so as to extract a more objective and distanced vision in which man confronts his actions and their underside. In a dialogue between photography and writing, both authors expose, impertinently, the abuses of an era, its contradictions and excesses. Opening Hours: 10:00 A.M. – 6:00 P.M. Closed on Mondays, Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum, Bratislava-Čunovo, Vodné dielo. More info:
Variably - The anniversary exhibition of one of the most important Slovak fine artists Viktor Hulík (1949) is very well known not only in the European but also in the global milieu. Proof can be seen in many invitations and participations in prominent European exhibition projects. In 1988, Hulík became a member of an international artists group INT ART whose objective was to bring people from different cultural backgrounds closer together. In 1990, he was the first Slovak artist to be awarded a prestigious creative grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation in New York. Opening Hours: 10:00 A.M. – 6:00 P.M. Closed on Mondays, Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum, Bratislava-Čunovo, Vodné dielo. More info:
Creatures - Looking at the art of Alena Adamikova, we can find lines of now rare stability in her work. First of all she painted portraits naturalistic, with strong contrasts in color and structure. It gives a certain mystic atmosphere to her works, which makes her one of the more remarkable contemporary surrealist painters. Nevertheless, in the last 10 years of work, Alena Adamikova is reflecting on roots. Through all her works runs the question, “Can my children discover the world as I discovered it?” She describes life perceived in a mystic way, where fairytales become reality. It seems that there is always a hidden secret in her work, the secret of security within the family, which is in danger of getting lost in a society of increasing individuality and loneliness. Opening Hours: 10:00 A.M. – 6:00 P.M. Closed on Mondays, Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum, Bratislava-Čunovo, Vodné dielo. More info:
Land behind the Map. Amazing Art History with Professor Hamster - Amazing Art History with Professor Hamster is an interactive projection dedicated to the story of art history, prepared in cooperation with Prague colleagues (concept by Ondřej Horák, execution by Ondřej Fuczik, David Kakalík and INITI) and loosely based on their previous activities in the Czech Republic. The projection is designed for children interested in art history, as well as for lay and informed visitors who want to learn more. Telling the story of art, connected with a series of animated films devoted to the life and context of the work of a prominent Slovak, as well as world visual artists of the 20th century and the present, combines learning and entertainment. Open: Monday: closed, Tuesday – Wednesday: 10.00 – 18.00, Thursday: 12.00 – 20.00, Friday – Sunday: 10.00 – 18.00, Esterházy’s Palace. More info:
The Kornel and Naďa Földvári Library - The Kornel and Naďa Földvári Library is a project dedicated to Slovak writer, satirist, art and literary critic, book collector and translator, Kornel Földvári. Preparations started together with Peter Krištúfek, writer and director, who has searched for a method of preserving Földvári's large collection of books for a long time. Open: Monday: closed, Tuesday – Wednesday: 10.00 – 18.00, Thursday: 12.00 – 20.00, Friday – Sunday: 10.00 – 18.00, Esterházy’s Palace. More info:
Artist´s (Heavy) Luggage - Arnold Peter Weisz-Kubínčan (1898 - 1944) was born into a Jewish family in the town of Usch, Prussia. From 1913 to 1917 he studied sculpture at the School of Arts and Crafts in Budapest. After the war he continued his studies in Berlin, most probably at a private academy. In the Berlin of the 1920s he could be close to the expressionistic tendencies which suited his artistic nature. Weisz-Kubínčan is a unique figure in terms of our modern painting and drawing but also due to his mysticism. Open: Monday: closed, Tuesday – Wednesday: 10.00 – 18.00, Thursday: 12.00 – 20.00, Friday – Sunday: 10.00 – 18.00, Esterházy’s Palace until November 10. More info:
Laco Teren. Nothing Can Stop Us! - Nothing Can Stop Us! presents the key points of Laco Teren’s artistic program and introduces the unique artistic personality of this polymuse. Teren was one of the leading figures of the post-Modernist generation, which around the mid-1980’s presented their program of Neo-Expressive painting inspired by the Italian Trans-Avant-Garde and German Neue Wilde movements. Through his explosive temperament and energetic and daring metaphors he poked fun at the main iconographic symbols of the socialist era in its twilight. Diverse topical and historical inspirations can be found in his contemporary, large canvases of “Baroque-Art Nouveau” and Pop-art style based on grandiose and colorful two dimensional drawing designs. Predominantly a painter, Teren also switches to sculpture from time to time. Open: Monday: closed, Tuesday – Wednesday: 10.00 – 18.00, Thursday: 12.00 – 20.00, Friday – Sunday: 10.00 – 18.00, Esterházy’s Palace until January 12. More info:
