The intensive work is resulting in several temporary changes in traffic from Thursday, October 5. During the two months of work, tram service will be completely eliminated in the section from the Nové Mesto railway station to Zlaté Piesky. This includes the tram stops Odborárska, Magnetová, Jurajov Dvor, Vajnorská, Shopping Palace and Zlaté Piesky.

Tram lines will start and end at the Kuchajda stop.

The tram service will be replaced by the X4 bus line until mid-December. The transfer point from Tram 4 to bus line X4 will be the ŽST Nové Mesto stop (Platform F), the last stop of the tram. X4 will run at a similar interval as the trams on the Nové Mesto railway station – Zlaté Piesky route and will stop at bus stops near the tram platforms.

When travelling between Zlaté Piesky and Trnavské Mýto, people can also use bus line 53. The reconstruction will also require changing the final stop for bus line 57. It will run along the Zlaté Piesky - Jurajov Dvor - Žabí Majer - Stavivá - Zlaté Piesky route.

The second reconstruction stage might begin in December and end in June 2024.

Changes to bus lines

At the same time, Bratislava’s public transport company, DPB, has restricted the frequency of some bus lines running to the Petržalka and Vrakuňa boroughs, in the the south and east of the city, respectively. The changes were justified by the need to replace tram services during tram-line reconstruction on the Vajnorská line, which serves the north of the city.

The changes include longer intervals for buses running on the 93 bus line during weekend mornings. The 94 line will run only during weekday rush hours; at other times it will be replaced by parallel lines 31 and 93. At the same time, the 95 line will run with extended intervals throughout the week. Sufficient capacity will be ensured by articulated buses transferred from the 88 line, which will be served by smaller buses.

The change will also affect the 65 bus line, which connects Dolné Hony in Vrakuňa with the Rača district. During weekend mornings it will also run less frequently.
