CRAFTS will be on offer...

REVIVERS of fading crafts - potters, smiths, woodcarvers, wicker workers, lace makers, honey cake bakers and Easter egg decorators - will meet with gardeners, beekeepers and herb cultivators to celebrate the Days of European Cultural Heritage in Slovakia.
Organized by the Museum of Ukrainian-Ruthenian Culture in Svidník, a small border town and open-air museum in Slovakia's northeast, the exposition aims to preserve and develop Slovak crafts and domestic production.
This year's festival takes place over two days in September (September 10 and 11). Artisans will present their wares while growers showcase their fruits, vegetables and flowers. Beekeepers will exhibit traditional as well as modern beekeeping methods and tools.

pits three-member teams against each other, often drawing cooks from Poland and Ukraine. Each team is tasked with cooking at least 50 pirohy in one hour using one kilo of flour with at least three fillings. Last year's winners were from Kružľová; the three women earned first place by cooking 216 pirohy with 12 fillings.
Musicians will play folk music and sing songs throughout the museum and town grounds. The traditional wooden houses will be open for viewing.
The open-air exposition of the Museum of Ukrainian-Ruthenian Culture in Svidník spreads over 10 hectares next to the town's amphitheatre, Nad Svidníckym amfiteátrom. The exposition provides an idea of the life of Slovakia's Ruthenian-Ukrainians in the past.
