French lecturer Bernadette Bricoux will deliver a speach on "Literary Myths of Europe" on October 2 at 17:00 at Mozart Hall of the Austrian Embassy on Ventúrska 10. Tel: 5443 2985.
The Austrian Embassy is also organising an international public conference on "Globalisation in Art and the Future of Ethnic Identity", at the Slovak National Gallery at Riečna 1. Officials from Germany, France, Japan, Austria, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary will discuss the effects of globalisation on international art. The conference will last three days from October 6 to 8.

Pro Helvetia

The Swiss Culture Foundation Pro Helvetia begins a project entitled "Public Subject", an exhibition of contemporary art displayed in the streets of Bratislava, October 5 to 22. International artists will exhibit their works at various public places throughout the town centre. For details or more information call Ľubica Hustá at 5441 8100.

The French Institute

The French Institute in Bratislava holds an exhibition entitled "Harvest Time", featuring photographs of the grape harvest and wine production. Also offered with the exhibit is tasting of the wine products featured in the photographs.
Every Tuesday the exhibition presents a wine expert giving a lecture on different types of Slovak and French wines. This Tuesday, October 3, at 18:00, Sylvie Gachet will lecture on 'Wine and literature' at the French Institute's Gallery, on Sedlárska 7.
The Institute also invites you to compare works of French and Slovak glass-artists at the Transparence (Transparency) exhibition at Palffy Palace, Panská 19. Exhibition runs till October 29. Tel: 5934 7777.
