French-language Film Festival
During a world-wide celebration in March of French language films, the French Institute in Bratislava and other French-speaking embassies and institutes will organise the third annual 'Festival International du Film Francophone de Bratislava 2001' (FIFF BA 2001). The festival will present more then 30 premieres of films and documentaries and 12 short-films with an antiracist theme made in France, Canada, Switzerland, Belgium, Tunis, Lebanon, Haiti, Burkina Faso, and the Ivory Coast.
A "Film Night" marathon of five films will be shown from 20:00 till breakfast on Friday, March 23. The festival will run March 21-28 in Istota cinema on Karloveská 32 (in Karlova Ves). To get there from the city centre, take trams # 1, 5, 9 or 12 towards Dúbravka. Tickets: 50 Sk per performance, 150 Sk, for the Film Night, 300 Sk for a festival pass. Bahá'í Community's New Year Celebration

Austrian Embassy reading and exhibitions

Actors Brigitte Slezak and Reinhard Hauser will read a shortened version of five autobiographic books written by Austrian author Thomas Bernhard in a reading entitled "Ins Leben Entlassen" (Released to Life). The Austrian Culture Institute is holding an exhibition of six Weinviertel region artists as well as six artists from Slovakia's Záhorie region, entitled From One And The Other Side, featuring paintings, graphics, photographs, plastics and ceramics influenced by the land, environment and mutual ties. French Institute exhibitions
The French Institute in Bratislava is holding an exhibition entitled "Europeans in Paris", which features photographs by 16 French photographers of architecture and Parisian citizens. The exhibition runs till March 30 in the French Institute Gallery on Sedlárska 7. Tel: 5934 7777.
The Institute is also holding the "Sixty Magazines About Architecture" exhibition, featuring European architectural magazines published last century. The exhibition runs till March 31 at the Fakulta architektúry (Faculty of Architecture) on námestie Slobody 19.
Goethe Institute video show and exhibitions
The Goethe Institute in Bratislava is holding an exhibition of Dušan Kállay's book illustrations entitled Faust and Margaret, beginning at 17:30 on Monday, March 19. The exhibition will run at the Goethe Institute on Panenská 33 till March 12. Tel: 5443 3130.
The 1930 film Der Blaue Engel (Blue Angel) by Josef von Sternberg will be shown at 17:00 on Tuesday, March 20, also at the Goethe Institute. Staring Marlene Dietrich.
The institute is holding an exhibition of the works of German architect Hans Michael Foldeak entitled Projekt für Pressburg (Project for Bratislava) - Pribinova street 2002-2010. Swedish exhibition for the disabled
The Consulate General of Sweden offers the exhibition Design For Every Body, which originally debuted at the Sydney Paralympics. Swedish designers who try to make the lives of disabled people as active as possible will exhibit ergonomic aids for the disabled. Spanish exhibition in Danubiana
