International Children's Day
The Slovak National Gallery is organising a workshop, a film presentation and musical entertainment for children on June 1 at its International Children's Day celebration. The children's movies programme begins at 11:00 (in Slovak) at the gallery's Kino Hall; live music, dancing and singing starts at 14:00 in the gallery courtyard, while painting and drawing, under the supervision of the gallery's resident instructor, runs from 14:00 to 18:00. On the same occasion, the gallery will also open the exhibition 'Here and There', featuring pictures, drawings and sculptures by students, capturing the way fine art is perceived through the eyes of children. Organised Runs

The "Road Run of the Youth Track" of 20 kilometers for all categories starts at 10:30 on May 2 at Hronská Breznica of the Banská Štiavnica town. Tel: same as above.

Spanish Embassy film and theatre performances
The film Madregilda, a comedy on Madrid in the 1940s, will be shown at 18:00 on Wednesday, May 30 at the 901 Film Club on Račianska 59. In Spanish with simultaneous translation into Slovak. Tel: 5441 5724/26.
French Institute lecture and exhibition
Albert Marenčín, a Slovak poet, playwright and general artistic whiz, will hold a lecture on What is Pataphysics? in Slovak at 18:00 on May 30, at the Institute's Gallery on Sedlárska 7. (According to the Oxford dictionary, pataphysics is "the branch of philosophy that deals with an imaginary realm additional to metaphysics".) Tel: 5934 7777.
The exhibition 'Art Nouveau Posters in Paris', featuring posters designed by artists like Alfonz Mucha at the beginning of the 20th century, runs at Pálffy Palace on Panská 19 in Bratislava till June 10. Tel: 5934 7777.
Unusual classical concert in Piešťany
The My Len Um concert of classical music features three pianists playing on one piano at the same time. Stanislava Zimermanová, Zuzana Suchánková and Dušan Šujan perform the works of composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach and Sergei Rachmaninov. The concert starts at 19:30 on Wednesday, May 30 at the Congress Hall on Kúpeľný ostrov (Spa Island) in Piešťany, one hour's drive from Bratislava. Tel: 0838-775 2150.
Bratislava Town Gallery
Ján and Meda Mládek's collection of František Kupka and Otto Gutfreund's paintings, which was first displayed in Washington and other cities around the world, comes to Bratislava. A graphic painter and illustrator (1871-1957), Kupka is one of the founders of abstract art. The exhibition runs daily except Mon, 10:00-18:00 till June 10, at the Pálffy Palace on Panská 19. Spanish exhibition at Danubiana
