Latino-American dance party

Fiesta Latina with Miguel Mendez, a Latino dance party allowing the public to experience a slice of the vibrant Latino culture here in Bratislava, will hold their Viva Cuba party on Saturday, June 16. Nicaraguan choreographer Mendez will teach original Cuban dances, followed by DJ Mulato's Latino-American disco show. Ghost Theatre at Bojnice Castle

When Ghosts Want to Sleep More is the theme of this year's Bojnice Castle series of night shows taking place every other weekend (private shows are performed any evening when requested by a group of 20 or more). The 105 minute show tells of a love-story between two ghosts Klára and Johan, and is in Slovak, although explanations of the story-line can be told in English beforehand. Tickets cost 150 Sk. 1001 Europe lecture series in Bratislava

Swedish professor Thomas Lunden, the head of geography research at the Swedish Institute, will give a lecture entitled State Languages and Language Positions in Europe. The lecture, mapping the language situation over the last century throughout Europe, starts at 17:00 on Monday, June 11 at Auditorium Maximum at Comenius University on Šafárikovo námestie. Goethe Institute

French Institute exhibitions

Literature critic and writer Július Vanovič will present the works of the French revolutionary author Andre Gide (1869-1951), who addressed his books to the younger generations living during the World Wars. A French philologist and art historian studying Greek palaeography at the Vatican will offer his own interpretation of the religious baroque painting La Madeleine pénitente ou Madeleine á la veilleuse de Georges de la Tour (Repentant Madeleine or Madeleine at the candle by Georges de la Tour). Une histoire de la bande dessinée en France (The History of Comics in France) presents various forms of comic strips and the changes they have undergone in French history.
