Community festival to enliven downtown Bratislava

FESTIVALS focused on communities, local activists and the social life of citizens seem to be mushrooming across Slovakia. In the capital, one called Rozbaľ to, Bratislava! (Rock It, Bratislava!) will take place on September 1-2, offering a wide scale of genres in a rich day-long programme.

The events within this festival include workshops, debates, screenings, painting exhibitions and photos of young artists, kiosks with good-quality Slovak products and concerts.

Accompanying events comprise vegan cooking with Jem Iné cooking school, a tour of the roof and basement of the venue, Stará Tržnica (Old Market Hall) in SNP Square, yoga trainings, ping-pong, instructions on hydroponic plant growing, a screening of selected films from the Fest Anča and Áčko festivals, a debate on mental sanity, poems ‘tailor-made’ to suit visitors, a demonstration on how to make 100-percent handmade guitars from recycled materials, a live percussion performance, a drumming workshop, cycling on a tandem bike, as well as an informal talk with invited guests in the recently opened multi-functional space TUTO in the Old Market Hall.
