Pre-Christmas Hash
People who have already started to put on extra abdominal rolls from too much mulled wine and Christmas market fare are urged to join a pre-Christmas hash run on Saturday, December 18. All runners will meet at the trolley bus stop at Červený Kríž at 13:30 (between Bratislava Castle and Horský Park, reachable from the 216 and 217 trolleys which can be boarded in front of the Presidential Palace, across from Hotel Forum). International Women's Club Bratislava holds their annual General Meeting
What to do with the one million Slovak crowns raised at the November Christmas Bazaar, as well as plans for next year, will be the topics of debate at the International Womens' Club of Bratislava (IWCB) December General Meeting held at Hotel Danube on Monday, December 13 at 18:30.
The club invites all current and potential members to relax among friends and hear about Christmas traditions in Slovakia. International Christmas carols are also on the programme. Moreover, this year all members will have a chance to donate Christmas gifts for children in orphanages. The gifts will be directed to two institutions: the Psychiatric Hospital in Pezinok, housing 600 mentally ill patients including 40 children, and the Veľký Pole facility for mentally handicapped men under the age of 26. All gifts should be marked to show whether they are intended for children or adults, and for male or female recipients.
The Slovak Spectator defends Management Cup title
For the second consecutive year, The Slovak Spectator's team emerged victorious from the Management Cup, a management simulation game organized by the training and consulting firm KNO Slovensko. Adela Leginuszová of KNO said teams pursued more conservative strategies this year than in the four previous years. "The preparation of teams was more professional and deeper than in any other year," she said. "They covered the key roles - finance, marketing, production - and were careful with all their moves."
The other 14 teams competing were from Aga Gas, DAS, Deloitte & Touche, de Miclen, Forward, Gity, Hirocem, Šariš (2 teams), SCA Hygiene Products, Siemens, Slovenská Poisťovňa, Tabak, and Tatra Banka.
