Contemporary Slovak art tours the USA

America is getting into the Velvet Revolution anniversary spirit with a series of art shows around the states featuring the work of modern Slovak artists. The project, called the "Celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Velvet Revolution, November 1989-1999," features artists such as Viktor Hulík, Milan Bočkay, Ivica Krošlákova, Jozef Jankovič, Juraj Meliš, Igor Minárik , Dali Polívka, Peter Roller and Rudolf Sýkora.
The show starts in September at the Cleveland State University Art Gallery. In October, it travels to the Ewing Gallery and Architecture at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. In January, the exhibit will move to the gallery of the State University of West Georgia, Carrolton.
A separate part of the exhibition will focus on the life story of Michael Bosak, a Slovak-American leader, banker, and philanthropist. This exhibition opens on September 28 at 18:30 at Riggs Hall, 1503 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington DC. For more information call 01-202-835-5393.
