NOS Open Society Foundation hosts summer seminar
Among its other summer activities, the Slovak non-profit organization NOS (Nadácia otvorenej spoločnosti), will host a six-day seminar about civil society for young Slovaks. The project, called Article 19, is organised in co-operation with the Council of Europe and will run during July 1999 in Banská Bystrica for young people aged between 18 and 30. The goal of the seminar is to promote a deeper understanding of the democratic system, as well as to support the political skills of young people in these particular areas: the conditions of democracy, open society, women in politics, media and media relationships, human rights, the election system and conflict resolution.
Interested young people should have some experience with non-governmental organisations, political parties, media or student organisations. Application forms are available at NOS-OSF and need to be sent before June 25 to London.
