The concert, conducted by Walter Attanasi, will present the famous arias of the 19th century melodrama as well as the works of contemporary composer Francesco Giammusso. They will be performed by the Czech Janáček’s Philharmonic Ostrava and the Slovak choir of Lúčnica.

Giammusso wrote some of the compositions especially for this concert, with one of them dedicated to Bratislava: an orchestral composition called “Svelunio”, a term used for the full moon above the Danube, the SITA newswire reported.

Other performed works include the composition for soprano, baritone and orchestra, Ave Maria. Giammusso’s piece Invictus for the choir and orchestra, which he created based on the text from William Ernest Henley and devoted to Nelson Mandela, will also premiere at the concert.

Moreover, the performed works will include pieces by Gejza Dusík and arias from Italian opera composers like Giacomo Puccini and Giuseppe Verdi, SITA wrote.
